September is shaping up to be an exciting month for smartphone lovers with the anticipated launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus from Apple, as well as the LG-made Nexus 5 from Google. Joining the bandwagon is HTC which is gearing up to announce its flagship smartphone on Sept. 6.

The name of the next HTC flagship is still shrouded in mystery and it is often referred to as the HTC Aero or the HTC One A9. Rumors have previously hinted an October release of the mysterious smartphone.

Now HTC has taken to Weibo to reveal that it will be unveiling the smartphone codenamed "MengYao" on Sunday, Sept. 6.

The Taiwan-based company posted a teaser image on its official account on the social networking site to announce the impending launch of the iPhone-like smartphone. The photo was accompanied by the tagline "September 6, MengYao, stay tuned".

For those wondering what "MengYao" means it translates to "superior handsomeness" which would lead us to think that HTC has a killer-looking device in the offing.

Even though HTC's previous flagships had similar designs, it seems the company is looking to break the mold and move with the times. The teaser images hint at a svelte smartphone, which the company is hoping will fare better than its One M9.

Little is known about the specs of the impending smartphone believed to be the HTC Aero or the HTC One A9. Previous rumors have pointed to 4GB of RAM and a MediaTek Helio X20 10-core processor tri-cluster processor.

The supposed "Hero" handset from HTC, which will boast a "new design and impressive specs" per the company, will likely tout a 5.2-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. However, recent rumors suggest that HTC has opted for FHD in favor of QHD.

Notable leakster Evan Blass who goes by the Twitter handle @evleaks hinted that the smartphone will be possibly called HTC One A9. It will boast a metal design and have a curved glass back.

The smartphone is also anticipated to come with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and pack in a 3,500 mAh battery.
